National update 2020 07 10

2020 10 01 EMAIL TO REGION

Hi AYSO families, Happy October! Our County is making progress remaining in the red tier (yay!) but have yet to get approval from the City or PSD for field permits. As mentioned in earlier updates the Area (Regions in Pacifica, Brisbane, Millbrae, San Bruno and Daly City) will make a final division on the Fall season which will be around the 15th. Our Region is not to make a final call without the other 4 Regions. Once the final divisions has been made the board will sit down and start refunding those who paid. But wait.... There's some good news! We know how eager everyone is to get back on the pitch. UK International Soccer (UKIS) has agreed to hold a 5 week clinic for those of you who want to get moving. JUHSD has opened up facility reservations so we are securing Terra Nova turf field for this 5 week clinic. Attached is a flyer with all the details. This clinic is being offered by UKIS, not our Region so any questions regarding this clinic needs to be sent directly to them. Registration will open next week. An email blast will go out once registration goes live. Registration will be on a first come basis. Given the amount of players wanting to play for Fall, the limited spots will fill up quickly. Specifics on clinics: * 2-3 professional coaches with 12 players max in each group- total of 24-36 players on the turf football/soccer field at one time *Groups will be the same coach and players all five weeks *Players must wear masks the entire time *Players will need to bring their own ball *No games- the focus will be on skills to maintain the required 6ft distance *Parents will not be allowed on the field Dates: October 17th-Nov 14th Times: 1.15hr per week, per division (see flyer for specific times) Location: Terra Nova turf field Cost- $100 Ages: 5-15 (children will be placed in age specific divisions as usual) Stay healthy, AYSO 157 Board

2020 09 01 EMAIL TO REGION

Hi families, As promised our Region is providing our monthly update. We still haven't been able to secure fields as PSD and the City are not accepting reservations at this time. This will likely change when San Mateo County clears youth sports to play, although there is no guarantees. This means we are still in a holding pattern and have no control over these decisions. A few other updates and reminders: UK Cohorts- Unfortunately, without the field permits getting approved we are unable to have the UK trainers hold small sessions at this time. Cancellation/refunds- As mentioned when registering, we will be refunding those families who paid IF the season gets cancelled. Since we have yet to cancel we will not be processing refunds until a final decision is made as this is a tedious process. We plan to make a final decision by mid/late October. Once the Area makes a final decision we will reach out to those families to begin the refund process. Again, we will reach out if anything changes before the end of September. For now, stay healthy. -AYSO 157 Board

2020 07 31 email to region

Dear Region 157 families,

Pacifica AYSO Region 157, along with all other Area 2B Regions, will be delaying the start of sports activities at this time. We are following the lead of other youth sporting associations, including the Central Coast Section of the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF). CIF oversees all the high school sports.

The San Mateo County Health data dashboard is showing a recent spike in new cases and now that SMC was placed on the monitor list, I suspect we will be back on the watch list in a few hours. A return to participation in youth sports will be further restricted by these changes.

After many collaborative meetings with the Area 2B Board and Area 2B Regional Commissioners, a unanimous vote was passed to put the fall season is on hold until further notice. We are hoping we can have a late start and play until the end of the year/early 2021.

We will be communicating monthly with all families who are registered and waitlisted for the fall 2020 season. Region 157 will be sending out emails the last day of each month unless there is a final decision made. In that case, we would notify you immediately.

AYSO is at heart a parent-participation, volunteer-based program to provide world-class youth soccer programs that enrich children's lives. Our mission includes ensuring a safe environment for children and volunteers. AYSO Area 2B does not see the coaching role in these conditions as a reasonable ‘ask’ even for our amazing, wonderful, devoted and capable volunteers.

Another challenge has been getting approval for leasing fields. Both Pacifica School District and the City of Pacifica have recently denied our request for usage at this time.

At the end of the day safety is our number one priority and we feel this is the best decision for our players and volunteers. I’ve had some families ask how the season might look if we were to play. AYSO Nationals has been working tirelessly to make sure our volunteers are properly trained for this pandemic. I encourage you to check out Covid Coaching to see how Nationals is ensuring our players are safe while following. Do know these are live documents and will continue to be updated.

We will continue to keep the waitlist open for families who would like to enroll their child(ren).

While you patiently wait for more information our board will continue to collaborate with the Mayor, Pacifica School District and City to ensure we have fields in case San Mateo County clears youth sports to play.

Lastly, we are working with UK International Soccer to see if they could get a few UK coaches to hold 3 week camps while the season is on hold. Once I have more information (and fields!) we will communicate with you.

We thank you for your continued patience during this unique time.

We are following the lead of other youth sporting associations, including the Central Coast Section of the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF). CIF oversees all the high school sports. Region 157 update- 6/30/20

Pacifica AYSO has opened registration for fall 2020 and we highly encourage you to register now. Although AYSO Nationals has cleared us to play, San Mateo County has yet to lift the Order for youth sports. Once lifted, we will be notifying all families enrolled for the fall 2020. Region 157. If San Mateo County decides to not allow for youth sports in the fall, we will refund families 100% of the registration fee and Nationals will refund the $20 player fee.

update 2020 06 19

AYSO Nationals update- 6/19/20

The emergency measures and restrictions that caused AYSO to suspend all programs back in March are being lifted in some states and localities. AYSO Guidance to all our Regions is that return to paly is allowed where permitted by local authorities, and when done in a manner that complies with local health-related guidance. Specific dates for program restarts, where that is permissible, will be determined by the volunteers who run the program in your community.
